I was super excited when I saw the commercial. The ad made it seem like it goes 30 miles per hour and in reality I average around 17 miles per hour while in the fastest setting pedaling at a decent pace. To get to 30mph, which I've done maybe once or twice, you need to be pedaling at full pelt for a very long straightaway or going down a hill and pedaling full pelt for a very long time. This would be acceptable if it was not for the fact that the chain falls off if you're pedaling very fast. This would be acceptable if there was decent customer service at the place I got it and they would fix it, but Greenpath Electric Bikes in NYC has horrible customer service. They are nice until you sign the contracts then you get treated like you don't exist. I get that I'm no longer of value to you but they could at least pretend to be nice after the deal is done. I asked the guy why my chain keeps falling off and he dismissed it as "chain drag" and said to come back in 6 months.
Update: I got the chain replaced at another bike shop and since then the chain has only fallen off once and I'm able to max the bike out at around 30 mph which is great. I won't be coming back, ever, and he probably doesn't care. Overall I'd give the crosscurrent 3.2/5 stars. With all my replacements and modifications I'd give it a 4.5. I also changed the handlebars to more comfortable cruising bars and added lights and a phone mount which doubles as a SpeedTracker.
